Alabama Southern Community College

Alabama Southern Community College (ASCC) is a state-supported, fully accredited and comprehensive two-year college in Southern Alabama. It has campuses in Monroeville, Thomasville, Gilbertown, Jackson and Demopolis.

The Alabama Southern Community College offers university transfer programs, business and industry training, developmental studies, learning resources, technical/occupational programs, student development service and community service. All that with outstanding faculty staff, small classes and a friendly atmosphere.

There is an Occupational Program and a Nursing/Allied Health Study Academy with qualified instructors teacher, small classes and modern equipped labs.

To earn an Associate Degree (AND) in ASCC you must apply by March 1 for admission for the following semester. Applicants must have a minimum of 2.50 cumulative GPA for students with previous college work and a minimum of 2.50 high school GPA for students without prior college work. Applicants must also meet the essential functions or technical standards required for nursing and must be in good standing with the college.

This study program is available in the Monroeville campus and clinical labs are held in areas such as pediatrics, maternity, emergency and critical care.

The Practical Nursing (PN) program is a one-year certificate plan that includes some courses such as Emergency and First Aid, Pharmacology, Body Structure, Mental Health, Adult Nursing and Fundamentals of Nursing. This course is available in the Thomasville Campus.

PN graduates can work in hospitals, nursing homes, home health care and doctor?s offices.

To be a part of the Alabama Southern Community College, you must have graduated from high school or have the General Education Diploma. Various programs of study have different admission requirements.
