Alpena Community College (ACC) was founded in 1952. It is located in Alpena, Michigan but it also has the Huron Shores Campus in Oscoda and it offers various classes in Rogers City, Whittemore and Tawas City.
ACC has the mission to serve the community by providing educational opportunities in areas of transfer, occupational/technical, developmental, community and continuing education. It does this with its two-year degrees, one-year certificates, personalized training and cultural opportunities.
Alpena offers degrees in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science and Associate in General Studies and also Cooperative Programs, General Education Courses and University Center Programs.
In the Associate in Applied Science degree there are Registered Nursing and Medical Assistant programs.
ACC admits all people who are 18 years old or older, who demonstrate ability to benefit from a particular program of study and who has a high school diploma or GED.
One of the most important aspects that influence people when they search for a college, is the services the institution provides in addition to the academic courses. ACC is conscious of that, so they offer a large variety of services such as counseling, bookstore, facilities, food service, library, internet, computer access, financial aid and learning center.
Alpena Community College has cooperative programs with Delta College, Lake Superior State University, University of Detroit Mercy, Ferris State University and Northwood University and others.
Finally, General Education courses at ACC are in English Composition, Science and Mathematics, Physical, Social Sciences and Humanities/Fine Arts.
