American Samoa Community College (ASCC) started in 1970 on Tutuila Island to provide post-secondary education opportunities. It offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees and Certificate programs in academic and technical areas.
ASCC has academic programs in agriculture and life science, art, music and drama, business, college and life planning, criminal justice, education, English, health and human service, language and literature.
American Samoa Community College also has programs available in mathematics, nursing, physical educations, reserve officers training corps, Samoan language and culture, science, social science, trades and technology.
The Nursing Department has the mission to prepare sensitive nurses to take care of the people of Samoa. The department offers Certificate of Proficiency in Practical Nursing that prepares students to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses.
The Associate of Science Degree in Nursing qualifies students to write the National Council for Examination for Registered Nurses. This provides a foundation for an off-island Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
A seven-week advanced internship is possible at the Queen?s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii for people who progress into the final semester of the Registered Nurse program.
