Bismarck State College (BSC) was created in 1939 to respond to a community need of a local college. BSC was the first two-year city college and became an example for others.
Today, it is the fourth leading college in the North Dakota University System. This is a comprehensive community college that provides learning centered on the students in transfer courses, online classes and programs, vocational-technical programs, corporate and continuing education and workforce training.
Study program in Bismarck State College includes Dentistry, Medial Assistant, Nursing (Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing), Paramedic Technology, Pharmacy, Pre-Medical, Radiology Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology and Clinical Laboratory Sciences (Clinical Laboratory Scientist and Clinical Laboratory Technician).
The Nursing Program begins with a Certified Nursing Assistant training, which is required to enroll in the Nursing Program. This study program prepares students by imparting knowledge, abilities and skills to practice nursing with the application of the nursing process to take care of individuals and families.
Licensed Practical Nurses can work in clinics, hospitals and long-term care facilities and Registered Nurses can do it in acute care centers, long-term care facilities, clinics, industry and community and public agencies.
Corporate and Continuing Education has available specialty training in Basic X-Ray Techniques, Medication Aide Program and Nurse Assistant Training.
