Carver Career Center: A West Virginia School of Excellence

Carver Career Center is located in West Virginia, in the County of Kanawha. They consider that it is crucial for them to help their students achieve their goals regarding employment and career advancement and help out employers in order for them to find the employees that they seek.

All the full-time programs of this school are constituted by seven main elements: leadership skills, basic academic skills, work place skills, computer literacy, safety, occupational knowledge and occupational performance skills.

Students who are preparing for post-secondary education or a job and even unemployed adults that are looking for a career are able to get enrolled in their School of Allied Health Occupations. The innovative programs that this school offers are: Dental Assistant, Medical Information Specialist, Respiratory Care Technology, Health Occupations I and II, Pharmacy Technician and Surgical Technology.

Surgical Technology in particular is not a very common study program among colleges that include Health Science courses in their programs. In Carver this 1250-hour program has been classified as Adult-level one. It is a 10-month certificate that is subsidized by the institution. The CAAHEP (Accreditation Review Committee ? Surgical Technology) certifies this program nationwide.

Students that want to get registered in this study program must have obtained the GED or a school diploma, completed the Psychological Services Bureau Allied Heath Occupations Aptitude Examination, present a high school transcript and go through a personal interview.

After concluding the program students will be entitled to apply for a national certification. Carver Career Center assures that the Job Placement Rate for this program is of 100%.
