Cedar Valley College is located in one of the most beautiful areas in southern Dallas, Texas. The institution opened in 1977 being the fifth of the seven-college master plan of the District. As everybody knows the health care industry is growing every day and why not say it, it is being paid really well. The program of Patient Care Technician, which is a part of the Cedar Valley Occupational Programs division, is a broad and fundamental one because individuals learn to perform venipuncture, sterile technique, IV Catheter insertion, blood glucose monitoring, EKG measurement and monitoring, medical terminology, catheter insertion and other skills that are fundamental to accurately take care of the patient.
This program confer students the possibility of being eligible to apply for the Texas Nurse Aid Skills and Written Exam which is coordinated by the Texas Department of Human Resources. In addition at the end of the program students will conclude the American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR Course and Heart Saver First Aid Course.
PCT (Patient Care Technicians) cover a wide variety of activities, including drawing blood, changing dresses, making diabetic testing of blood and performing EKGs.
Patient Care Technicians are always needed in acute care hospitals such as Methodist and Parkland, surgery centers and rehab units.
