Central Arizona College: Are You Looking For Health Occupations?

Central Arizona College, as its name reveals, is located in Coolidge, Arizona. Some of the advantages offered by this College are no less than 50 university transfer programs and over 90 degrees and certificates in a wide variety of areas of study.

The certificates given for the Health Academic Division take 1 entire year, while the degree programs take 2 years.

Some of the health related programs with certificates are: Behavioral Health Aide, Chiropractic Assistant, Home Health Aide, Massage Therapy, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Biller, Medical Clinical Assistant, Medical Transportation, Practical Nursing and Professional Coder.

Likewise, Transfer Degrees are provided, among others for Allied Health, Dental Hygiene and Nursing.  These TDs give students the chance of transferring to different institutions like Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University or University of Arizona.

Among the options that the institution offers with regards to the division mentioned above, students may find a great diversity of specialties such as Medical Assistant, Medical Transcription, Pharmacy Technician, Massage Therapist, Medical Biller, Medical Administrative Assistant and Professional Medical Coder.  In CAC, this last specialization is remarkable because they are the only ones who use the material from the American Association of Professional Coder in Central and Northern Arizona

No matter what the specialization is, all Health students have to take the same five basic courses, which are health law and ethics, medical terminology, interpersonal skills, introduction to healthcare and math and dosage.

In addition to the Health Occupations, CAC has a Nursing Division, which is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.  For this program, a certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree are available.

Among the activities more on the business side of the medical industry we find health care, health planning and development, management and quality assurance.
