Cerro Coso Community College was founded in 1973. During this time, they have grown so much that they need to cover the current area, which was not part of them. The Indian Wells Valley Campus (one of their main sites) is located in Ridgecrest, California 160 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Cerro Coso is one the 3-college System of the Kern Community College District. This institution is made up by five different locations and in general they comprise an 18,000-mile area and serve a population of approximately 85,000 individuals. In addition accreditation from approved commissions and associations is a fact in CCCC. The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges has given credit to them. Their courses are also recognized by other very well-known universities such as the University of California.

If you feel interested in Nursing, Medical Assistance and different kinds of aides related to health this college is the best option for you. Cerro Coso is well-known because of the quality of their health programs. They have two main branches: the Vocational Nursing Division and the Health Careers Division. This last category offers Medical Assisting; which is subdivided into 2 features: administrative and clinical; Certified Nurses Aide and Home Health Aide are also contemplated. Students from these two last programs complete a curriculum that is accredited by the State of California. Furthermore, Cerro Coso assures that there are great job opportunities for these areas of study. On the other hand the Student Vocational Nursing Program is also growing very fast due to the fact that the need for nurses has increased a lot. The main requisites needed to be part of the SVN program are: having at least 17 years of age and a high school diploma (or equivalent).

At Cerro Coso student services and resources cannot be left out. They really contribute to the integral development of their students. Counseling services, financial aid, a bookstore, scholarships, student employment, TRiO, tutoring services and a library are just some of them.
