Charlotte Technical Center: Giving You a Hand

Charlotte Technical Center was founded in 1980 in Port Charlotte, Florida. Per year, more than 2,000 adult and high school students attend CTC, and, in general, they serve 800 students daily.  The Council on Occupational Education accredits the Center, and the Veterans State Approval Agency approves it, too. If you want to get enrolled in CTC, it is necessary that you go through the admission procedure that, by the way, is very fast and simple.  Fist of all, you must contact the Career Counseling. Then, coordinate an appointment with the Schedule T.A.B.E. Assessment.  Third, you should review the assessment results and, finally, attend an orientation session.  CTC students are provided with essential services that help them in their way to achieve their goals.  For instance, Financial Aid, Job Placement, Special Workshops, and an in-campus Child Care Center called Pumpkin Patch Day Care Center are at their disposal.

The programs offered by the Center are classified into two categories: Full-time and Part-time programs.  In both types, the Division of Health Sciences is available.  Dental Assisting, Practical Nursing, or Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) and Nursing Assistance/Home Health Aide (HHA) are offered as full-time programs of study.  In addition to those courses, individuals are able to select Electrocardiograph Aide and Phlebotomy as long as they have finished the program of Patient Care Technology or any other Health Care Program that include 90 hours of similar subject matter to Health Care.  Specialized and professional supervision is offered for the three main programs of study mentioned above.  Students of Nursing Assistance/HHA are directed by the Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses. LPN students are supervised by a registered nurse, a licensed physician or a licensed dentist.  Finally, students of the program of Dental Assisting have the opportunity of having access to the experience of the Chairside Clinical through affiliation.
