Chesapeake College was chartered in December of 1965. It was the first community college in Maryland. The idea of developing this college was to fulfill the needs of the middle and upper Eastern Shore. Today, their service area encloses serving the counties of Carolina, Kent, Talbot, Dorchester and Queen Anne?s.
Chesapeake confers you the opportunity of choosing among a great diversity of programs of study and degrees within the health field. The offered Degree Programs are circumscribed to the programs of Massage Therapy, Nursing: Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist Assistance and Radiologic Sciences. Certificates are available for the programs of Emergency Medical Technician ? Paramedic, Massage Therapy, Nursing: Practical Nurse and Surgical Technology. In addition, CC provides Letters of Recognition that encompasses the programs of Cardiac Rescue Technology, Phlebotomy, Physical Fitness/Health Services Leadership, Physical Therapy Aide and Radiography Aide.
For their excellence in all aspects, this College has received great approval and certification from very well-known commissions and associations. For example, The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Secretary of Education, has given credit to Chesapeake. However, this story does not end here. There is a lot to say about the accreditation they have in regards to their health field. The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology accredits the Radiologic Sciences. Likewise, the Nursing Program is recognized by the Maryland Board of Nursing and by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission. Besides, the Surgical Technology and the Physical Therapist Assistant programs are approved respectively by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association and by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
