Olive-Harvey College is a product of the unification of the Southeast and Fenger Colleges; both were part of the City Colleges of Chicago. When this happened, the name and location of the resulting school changed. However, in 1981 they moved most of their operations to a newer main building. Today, Olive-Harvey College is part of City Colleges of Chicago.
At Olive-Harvey, degrees are divided in two different types, Transfer Degrees and Career Degrees. The Transfer Degrees are designed to be taken in order to complete two-year general studies. This is done with the purpose of transferring to Baccalaureate (four-year) institutions. Likewise, these degrees are offered in two categories, Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS). On the other hand, Career Degrees allow you to find career entry upon completion. This sort of degree is only offered as Associates of Applied Science (AAS). AAS are offered in various careers in areas related to health such as Nursing and Respiratory Care, fields in which lots of professionals are demanded today. Furthermore, they are extremely self-satisfactory and well-paid.
