In 1934 the Chicago Board of Education established Wilbur Wright College as one of the 3-city junior college systems intended to provide service to the community of Chicago. The institution stayed at 3400 Austin until 1993 when their move to their new campus was held. In 1966, WWC, in addition to other colleges, began being part of the City Colleges of Chicago. Although most of their general enrollment (of around 16,200 students) is made up of Chicago citizens, a great amount of students from other places come to this College due to the wide-ranging diversity of programs, employment opportunities and superior faculty that they offer.
