Clarendon College: Opening Doors, Changing Lives!

If you want to know about Clarendon College, welcome to the oldest college in Texas Panhandle. At the beginning, in 1898, Clarendon was set up and administered by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. In 1927, the Clarendon Independent School Board acquired the property and at that moment, the college got to be a non-sectarian institution. The Texas Education Agency and the Association of Texas Colleges and Universities recognized Clarendon College in that same year. In 1968 they moved to an 82-acre campus in Clarendon, Texas, their current location. This happened because they did not continue being part of the school district. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredited Clarendon College.  Besides, it is part of 50-state community colleges that are supported in Texas.

There are different Divisions in which the programs of study are grouped in this institution. The Division of Science and Health is the one offering the health related areas of study. For example, it encompasses Health and Vocational Nursing.  Students who feel attracted to medicine should consider majors linked to Biology, Chemistry and/or other related areas. Programs like Biology and Professional Health (Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental) and Allied Health are also available.  This last program is designed for students who are planning to transfer and get enrolled in a career like Clinical Laboratory Science (Medical Technologists (MT) / Laboratory Scientists (CLS)), or Occupational Therapy.

However, if your interests are based on Nursing you are able to choose between the two degrees that are circumscribed to this field: Vocational Nursing, for which a certificate is given, and Associate in Science. The last one of them is a transfer curriculum special for those who are concerned about a 4-year program leading to a BSN (bachelor degree in nursing).  Physical Therapy is a very complete transfer program that you can opt for if you want to get a degree in physical therapy.  Thus, no matter what your plans are, Clarendon is there to help you!
