In 1933, Clark College was founded as a 2-year junior college; 15 years later, the college was accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. Clark Community College District serves the population of the counties of Clark, Skamania and West Klickitat. In the 50's, when the first evening program was held, they had an enrollment of around 4,800 students. About 2 decades later, this total almost doubled. At the end of the 70's, around 8,000 students were attending Clark College. Great economic growth and important employment opportunities are now a reality in Clark County due to the establishment of lots of electronic firms. This has provoked an enrollment of almost 11,000 students each quarter.
