The program is designed to train the student for an entry-level position as a diagnostic ultrasonographer via classroom and clinical hands-on training, as well as professional development. They will have theoretical knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, ultrasound physics and instrumentation, normal and pathologic sonography of the abdomen, superficial structures and obstetrics and gynecology, as well as college algebra, college physics, English-composition, humanities. They will learn and perform the scanning techniques and protocols of abdomen, superficial structures and obstetric/gynecology in the laboratory and clinical settings, integrating the lectures with clinical education. Ultrasonographers perform ultrasound procedures in clinics, hospitals, acute or long-term care facilities.

Each Academy campus is a modern, technical, healthcare, career institute small enough to be concerned with individual student progress, yet large enough to provide needed resources. The students work with equipment and instruments relative to their field of study.
Classrooms are unique per program and are conducted under the supervision of approved faculty. Class enrollment is limited to ensure that students receive personal attention in classes. A portion of most programs is spent as an intern in an off-campus environment practicing skills in a supervised workplace. The Academy of Health Care Professions strives to minimize training time by focusing its curriculum primarily on the skills needed to succeed in today's allied healthcare work place.

To enter The Academy of Health Care Professions, a prospective student must meet these general requirements:
Possess and submit a high school diploma, or a high school transcript, or an official GED
Must be at least 17 years of age
Complete a Confidential Student Information Sheet
Make payment of the $50 registration fee
