Medical Administrative Assistant Training at Apollo College

Medical Administrative Assistant:
The Medical Administrative Assistant Program includes two broad aspects. The first encompasses secretarial skills, manual office systems, and an introduction to microcomputers. This phase of the program includes: medical law and ethics, medical terminology used in professional practice, essential office skills, and areas of medicine critical to office practice. The second phase of the program teaches the knowledge and skills to master computer software and systems commonly used in medical practice. The student will develop proficiency in word processing, accounting methods, spreadsheets, and database management.
Graduates of this program are prepared to manage manual and automated front office operations for single and multilevel practices. Students will also learn the administrative assistant skills that will make them valuable members of any office team and will allow them flexibility to work in a variety of office operations in health care or business settings.
Upon completion of classroom instruction and practical training, students perform learned skills during a 240-hour externship in a physician's office, clinic, or other approved medical/health care facility.

It's a fact that financial aid is available to those who qualify! Apollo College is accredited by ABHES, recognized by the United States Government as an approved National accrediting agency. Therefore, our students that are eligible for financial aid can apply for all of the same federal grants and loans that they would qualify for if they applied to any major university.
Once you have decided on a course of study, our financial aid officer will look at your individual situation based on applications. Apollo College participates in a wide variety of state and federal financial aid programs, as well as alternative loans. If eligible, these can be used as an additional source of funding for tuition, books, and tools.
