From the moment you enroll at most of our Westwood campuses, our Student Services staff is standing by to offer help and assistance. They can assist you with the many issues that arise as you make the transition to college. You will be introduced to our Student Services staff at New Student Orientation. Their invaluable support will continue through graduation, in the areas of scheduling, housing, academics and financial concerns, amongst others. Student services also revolves around the campus library and bookstore and advising and tutoring.

It is often much easier to address your problems with the help of the Student Services staff, rather than by yourself, which is why we encourage you to ask for their help whenever you need it. Informal meetings can be held anytime during regular college hours, giving you the opportunity to express your concerns, request assistance, and get valuable feedback.

We also recognize that you may be faced with difficult personal issues that could prevent you from achieving your academic and career goals. The Student Services Office offers personal advising assistance on an as-needed basis to help you deal with these issues. College personnel can frequently help you identify solutions to problems and overcome roadblocks to success.

If, at any time, you need educational, career, or even personal support, our Student Services team is there to help. Their goal is to give you the support you need to succeed.

Westwood College Medical Assisting Program Description

The Medical Assisting program provides students with the skills necessary to be responsible for a range of front office and back office functions. Coursework will include many opportunities for hands-on training, including 160 hours spent on an externship where you will work in a medical facility doing administrative and patient contact tasks required of the job. Student responsibilities will range from front office work such as appointment setting, telephone triage, and insurance billing and coding to back office tasks such as assisting in vital signs, ECGs, and phlebotomy.

The Medical Assisting program prepares students for a fast-paced, diverse, and rewarding entry-level career in physicians' offices, urgent care centers, or clinics. The program provides a complete range of high-level front and back-office skills, making you a valuable member of the team.
