This is an intensive one-year nursing education program designed for caring, critical thinking individuals interested in a healthcare profession. The program consists of both lecture and clinical experience. The various settings for clinical practicum include, but are not limited to: hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, health maintenance organization, and community health programs.

Texas Careers' Vocational Nursing Program
The objective of the Vocational Nursing program is to train entry-level nursing personnel to work in healthcare facilities administering nursing services. The vocational nurse works under the direction of a registered nurse in acute care and community settings.
The primary job skills the vocational nursing student will learn are basic patient care, care of the post-surgical patient, care of the pediatric patient, pre-natal and post-natal nursing care, and care of the elderly. Upon successful completion of the program graduates will be awarded a Certificate.
The graduate nurse will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN, for licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Although the program is designed to prepare students to take various certification or licensing exams, Texas Careers cannot guarantee the student will pass those exams.
Texas Careers' Career Services
Texas Careers' Career Services Department will assist eligible graduates in their job searches, including assistance with resume writing, interviewing, identifying job openings, and other job search activities.
Continual career services are available to all eligible graduates. Graduates who require additional assistance after their initial employment should contact the School to provide updated resume information and are encouraged to use the resources available in the Career Services Department.
Part-time Jobs: Many students work on a part-time basis during their training to help with their education costs. If students require assistance in securing part-time employment while attending classes, the Career Services Department will make every effort to assist them in their search.
Texas Careers Externship
The final phase of study for some programs includes an externship experience. The externship allows our students to receive valuable on-the-job training from professionals in their chosen career field.
