Hamilton College, Practical Nursing
The objective of the Practical Nursing program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for entry-level positions as Practical Nurses. Students are trained to give direct care to clients under the supervision of a physician or registered nurse.
Nursing responsibilities may include direct patient care, the administration of medication, and the application of procedures and treatments.
The length of the program for day students is 50 weeks. All students must complete the program with 84 credit hours. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be awarded a diploma. Students must complete all coursework and maintain a C- or better GPA to progress in the PN program.
This program is designed to lead to entry-level employment in the field, or to jobs in related fields, the specific job titles of which may not be that specified in the program title. Although the College will assist the student with job placement, finding a job is the ultimate responsibility of the student. The College does not guarantee that any student will be placed in any particular job, or at all.
