(Available in Des Moines Only) The objective of the Medical Transcription program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position in medical transcriptionist positions. Keyboarding accuracy and speed are emphasized along with medical terminology. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be awarded a certificate. Duties for the graduates of this program may include transcription of medical documents using computer technology and development of proofreading and editing skills. The Medical Transcription program consists of 30 credit hours completed over a period of six months. This program is represented to lead to multiple job opportunities and is not meant to lead to any particular outcome, including what is specified in the program title. Although the College will assist the student with job placement, finding a job is the ultimate responsibility of the student. The College does not guarantee that any student will be placed in any particular job, or at all.
