Cardiac & Vascular Institute of Ultrasound (CVIU) School is dedicated to providing students with education on the leading edge of cardiac and vascular ultrasound. Both cardiac and vascular ultrasound modalities are new and expanding fields generating an abundance of employment opportunities.

As the first non-combined cardiac and vascular oriented programs in the country, the curriculums are designed for “specialization”, rather than “generalization”, to insure a more qualified and a more employable ultrasound sonographers.

CVIU is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau for Health Education Schools (ABHES) and licensed by the Alabama Department of Education.

Each student will receive at least 800 clinical hours and at least 800 clinical studies.

The goals of our medical and clinical staff are twofold: first, thoroughly train sonographers for entry-level positions, and second, prepare them to pass the Registry (CCI and ARDMS).

A student must specialize in either cardiac OR vascular for the One-year Program. For the Two-year Program the student will specialize in both cardiac AND vascular.

Crossover Training: 167 clock-hours of training in Cardiac or Vascular in a 12 week period. (Must be graduate of an ultrasound school or employed as a sonographer.)

New classes begin every quarter on the first week of January, April, July, and October. Classes limited to 10 students per class. Funding available.

Entrance Requirements
for the One and Two Year Programs

You must meet one of the requirements listed below

1. An Associate or Bachelor Degree
2. A minimum of 48 college credits with at least a 2.5 GPA
3. Graduate from an ultrasound school and desire a specialty in cardiac or vascular ultrasound
4. Completed an Allied Health School Program

Meeting one of the above eligibility requirements indicates that applicants have the academic skills necessary to succeed in the CVIU programs.
