Cayuga County Community College is a two-year institution that is located in Auburn, New York. In 1953 they were founded as Auburn Community College; 22 years later their name changed to Cayuga County Community College due to the fact that Cayuga County assumed sponsorship. Nowadays they serve over 3,000 students as a unit of the State University of New York.
The viewpoint of their students regarding the Nursing department is that the program of studies is absolutely comprehensive. The accreditation that the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) provides them gives students the opportunity of being transferred to SUNY campuses in Syracuse, Plattsburgh and Utica/Rome.
Clinical training is available within the Nursing program. Students have the chance to participate in this training in A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Auburn Memorial Hospital, Cayuga County Health Department, Cayuga County Nursing Home, Community-General Hospital, Finger Lakes Center for Living, Hutchings Psychiatric Center, Oswego Hospital and SUNY University Hospital.
Two semesters of health assessment for professional preparation are contemplated in this program of study.
Cayuga also offers great possibilities for nursing students. For example: they are able to work as paid patient care assistants at local health care facilities, flexibility in scheduling clinical rotations is offered and a variety of clinical opportunities such as community health, acute and long-term health care facilities and home care are available.
Cayuga works hard in order to provide what is needed to create the most excellent academic atmosphere in which students can feel absolutely comfortable.
For that matter they confer them the possibility to have access to an Academic Support Center, Bookstore, Campus Clubs and Activities, Career and Disability Services, Child Care Center, Counseling and Advisement, Housing, Financial Aid and Internships. All these essential benefits make individuals grow in an integral way.
