Cerritos College is located in a 52-square-mile area in Norwalk City, California and their doors opened since 1955.
Each year around 1,200 students finish their courses in Cerritos. Around 60% of their students are Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Native American, Asian and African-American population; which provides great cultural diversity.
In general, CC students have different degrees and certificates at their disposal given in 9 divisions and in 87 areas of study. One of these divisions is called Health Occupations Programs and encompasses a wide range of areas of study such as Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant, Registered Nursing and Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Program (SLPA). Certificates, Associates in Arts Degrees and transfer credits to four-year colleges/universities are available. In addition they provide a very innovative program called Project HOPE which is intended to give minority population a chance to get enrolled in areas related to Health and increase the amount of this type of population in different areas of study such as pharmacy, dentistry and optometry.
Nonetheless their concern about providing their students with the best academic quality in all senses does not end there. Among the student resources that they offer are: Assessment Battery, Career Services, Student Services, Child Development Center, Counseling and Guidance, Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) Job Placement, Student Health Services and Transfer Center. Loans and Scholarships are contemplated in the rubric of Financial Aid; they can be obtained in this institution.
